Mother's Day Brunch at BRIO Tuscan Grille - Sunday, May 10th

BRIO Tuscan Grille at The Waterside Shops is upping the ante on its popular weekend Bellini Brunch concept, offering special brunch dining opportunities on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. Already a hit at other BRIO locations nationwide, the Tuscany-influenced Bellini Brunch, offered Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3om, serves up a heaping helping of Tuscany-influenced items for those who view the weekends as much anticipated time to rest, relax and treat themselves.

Among the menu standouts are specialties such as Frittata Al Forno, prepared in the traditional style, with layers of eggs, angle hair pasta, crisp bacon, onions, spinach, artichoke and Fontina cheese, Eggs Benedictano, a twist on the familiar classic, with BRIO’s interpretation served on toasted brioche, and Tuscan French Toast, a delectable presentation featuring fresh berries, Mascarpone cheese, warm Maple syrup and a complementary side serving of bacon.

Broadening the menu… and also sure to keep patrons lingering are the Cinnamon Apple Pancakes, Crab Crepes, Grilled Salmon and Sweet Potato Hash, and two Beef Tenderloin dishes reinterpreted for brunch dining. Luscious libations complement the expansive culinary offerings, among them the classic Italian BRIO Bellini and Mama’s Mimosa, served with Moletto Prosecco and fresh-squeezed orange juice.

For those seeking new occasion-driven dining options or flummoxed about where to go on Mother’s Day, the kid-friendly restaurant will be opening early on to accommodate guests. Seating will begin at 10 am, and reservations are strongly recommended. For additional inf or reservations, call (239) 593-5319.

Looking for a New Opportunity?

Job Search Support Group for downsized employees of Chamber member businesses. Program will be held weekly, beginning this Monday, March 30 at 10:30am.

Location: The Chamber Building - Leadership Collier Foundation Room (2nd floor), 2390 Tamiami Trail North

There is no charge to attend and no advance registration is required. This network will provide job search and transition assistance to employees who have been downsized out of our local businesses. This is not a job placement service. The goal of the group is to offer skills, support, best practices and structure to the outplaced workforce of Chamber members. The emphasis will be on networking, resumes, interviewing skills and best practices for a successful transition. Weekly meetings offer structure and accountability to maintain the appropriate activity levels and information sharing to contribute to the success of all participants.

Participants need only come prepared to discuss who they are, what type of opportunity they seek and what makes them the most desirable candidate. Assistance will be available to those who are still working through these topics. Each session will offer an in-depth look at tools and critical elements for a successful transition. Open Call to Southwest Florida “Green” Beauties

Sometimes stereotypes are feared and sometimes they are challenged. Florida Earth Pageants are inviting women in SWFL to challenge the “beauty pageant girl” myth. “There is no such thing as a pageant girl,” said Sandra Silva, Pageant Director and coach. “Only women who participate in pageants, who are courageous enough to go through a process that requires a lot of determination, discipline and hard work and that, regardless of the outcome, always offers personal rewards.”

Florida Earth Pageants select the Miss and Teen delegates from Florida for the prestigious United States Miss Earth® and United States Teen Earth® pageants, a production of Earth Pageant Productions.

*** A casting has been scheduled for April 18, at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Miami Beach, to select the new Miss Earth Florida. Women 18 to 25 years old currently living in FL, are invited to register for this audition before April 1st. The US Earth pageant is scheduled for July 19th in Primm Valley, NV ***

For more info, a complete list of requirements and to request applications before April 1st, visit www.EarthFloridaPageants.com or e-mail Silva at info@earthfloridapageants.com.

Playdate for Autism at Dinosaur Playground

Help make a difference in the lives of all those affected by autism. Saturday, March 28th from 10am-2pm, Dinosaur Playground presents their 2nd annual Playdate for Autism at both Dinosaur Playground locations. Dinosaur Playground’s 2nd location is in the same plaza and features arts and crafts and more. Get an early start on Autism Awareness. A portion of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks and Revolution Autism. Autism Speaks helps fund autism research, awareness, advocacy, and family services. Revolution Autism is a local organization that brings a variety of direct support to families in SWFL with a child with autism, including respite care and support groups.

Ray and Jessica Stewart, owners of Dinosaur Playground, have a very personal connection to this cause. Two years ago their son, who is now 4, was diagnosed with autism. Since his diagnosis they have become aware of how much their business helps children of all abilities and they hope to use the playground to help children and families affected by autism. The playground is a very safe environment for children with autism, since the owners know all too well how to child-proof an area for a child with autism.

“A Playdate for Autism” will be Saturday, March 28th from 10am-2pm. Free lunch will be provided by Outback Steakhouse and there will be a magic show by Robbie the Ringmaster. Bring the whole family for a day filled with fun!

SIX DEGREES EXHIBITIONS, Saturday Mar 21, 7-10 pm

Six Degrees Exhibitions is proud to present the fine photography of SWFL's locals Doug Heslep, Jonathan, Kane, and Detlef. The work of Doug Heslep evolves from a fashion, and commercial photography background. His fine art photography embarks on a journey to capture his visions on canvas, examining every detail and striving for perfection.
The photography of Jonathan Kane is a theoretical glimpse into the private world of self-awareness and attempts to suggest how the human psyche interacts with its own perceived identity.
Detlef integrates his diverse passion of innovation and technology into his work, which is futuristic and visionary. Detlef believes in “pushing the envelope” through his art while challenging attitudes and perceptions.
